Beginners Guide and Range Training Bundle
If You Want to be a Safe and Responsible Firearms Owner, It All Starts Right Here…
Do you want to become a safe and responsible firearms owner?
I know that’s a crazy question to ask because who would say “NO” I don’t want to be a safe and responsible gun owner.
The truth is anyone that owns a gun wants to be safe and responsible.
But just because you want to be safe and responsible doesn't automatically mean you are.
I see people every day...that have owned guns for years…that violate the eight foundational skills of gun safety and it opens the door to people getting hurt or killed.
Here are the facts:
From 2006-2016, almost 7,000 people in the U.S. died from unintentional shootings. In 2016 alone, there were 495 incidents of accidental firearm deaths.
AND, an additional 13,576 children were injured.
I can guarantee you something. These injuries and death were the direct result of 1 or more of the eight foundational gun safety skills being broken.
Because if you follow them to the letter it’s impossible to kill or injure someone.
Do you think if you could ask these gun owners if they were a safe and responsible gun owner BEFORE they had an accident they would say...
"No, I’m not really safe and responsible. I’m sure someone is going to get injured or killed sooner or later....”
NO!
These people believed they were safe and responsible.
Here’s a simple truth.
The simple truth is – it isn't enough to believe you are safe and responsible. You must be able to consistently – without fail - demonstrate it.
Can You Consistently Demonstrate These Eight Foundational Skills & Principles?
Don’t wait until it’s too late to discover you can’t demonstrate these skills…things can go wrong very quickly.
How to Operate a Pistol & Revolver
Identify & Fix Firearm Malfunctions
The Proper Two-Handed Grip
The Proper Shooting Position
Achieve Proper Sight Alignment & Sight Picture
Shoot with Both Eyes Open
Gun Range Etiquette
Clean & Maintain your Firearm
I asked him to leave my advanced shooters course…
You must understand the 8 firearm safety rules. However simply memorizing them is not enough you have to be able to demonstrate these rules on a subconscious level. Recently a man attended an advanced shooting course with me. After 15 minutes I had to ask him to leave because he continued to be unsafe with his firearm. He claimed that he had been shooting for years and he had memorized the firearm safety rules. But he couldn’t demonstrate these rules on a subconscious level.
Do you know how your firearm functions when you need it?
Recently during a violent home invasion two men entered a home in Lithia Florida. While the husband was fighting the attackers, the wife grabbed the home defense gun. However, she did not know how to deactivate the safety. This is the wrong moment to try to learn how your firearm works.
Can you identify and fix the three deadly malfunctions?
Failing to understand how to identify and fix the three deadly malfunctions could mean the difference between life or death. Many people will inadvertently endanger themselves and others when faced with these malfunctions because they don’t know the proper way to deal with them.
The proper two-handed pistol grip.
An improper grip will affect your accuracy, ability to control recoil and make fast follow up shots. All of which is needed in a self-defense situation.
The proper shooting position.
Learn a natural, easy to master shooting position that provides maximum accuracy and enables rapid movement.
How to achieve proper sight alignment and sight picture.
Most people at the range seem to be happy simply hitting the piece of paper. That is not good enough if you truly want to become a great shooter. You must master your ability to achieve proper site alignment and site picture to achieve accurate hits.
How to shoot with both eyes open
This is a real challenge for most people. Closing one eye when shooting is always feels more natural however if your goal is to own a firearm for the purpose of self-defense, you must master your ability to keep both eyes open while shooting. During a violent attack your brain’s instinct is to open your eyes wide to allow as much information as possible. If you fail to master the skill while at the range, you will never be ready for a violent attack
Do you follow gun range etiquette?
I am at the range most days of the week and 90% of gun owners do not understand gun range etiquette.
Learn how to clean and maintain your firearm.
A firearm is an investment worth keeping clean and maintained. Not to mention a clean and well maintained firearm is a safer firearm.
Here’s the bottom line…
Do you know all these foundational skills without even thinking about it? On a subconscious level? If you cannot answer with a resounding yes, you owe it to yourself and others to learn and internalize these eight foundational skills and principles. In my experience most people, 90%, are lacking one or more of these foundational skills that EVERY gun owner needs to know.
Your three options to learn these critical skills.
Option # 1
Figure it out on your own.
I recently met a woman named Emily at the range for a private training session. I always begin by asking “Why do you want to learn how to safely handle a gun?”
I wasn’t prepared for her answer…
“My best friend, Ashley, recently got her concealed carry permit. Last week a group of us were hanging out at my house for a girl’s night. Ashley was excited about getting her new gun and we all wanted to see it. It was really small with a black top and a light blue bottom…The gunshot was so loud that it was hard to understand what was happening. That’s when I saw Jessica, she was slumped over in the chair. Gasping for air.
I want to learn about gun safety so that something like this never happens again…”
These women choose to figure it out for themselves and someone is dead because of that decision.
I reached over the woman, slammed her into the wall and took the gun away…
About a year ago I was at the range shooting with a student. When my student was loading her magazine, I thought it would be a good time to look over the shoulder of the person next to us to make sure she was being safe. Right at that moment her firearm jammed. Now fixing a jam is fairly simple if you have the proper training.
However, this woman was not properly trained. She began grasping at the magazine, but she couldn’t get it out. Next she tried to rack the slide but she was doing it improperly. Then she turned the gun toward herself to get some extra leverage. I reached over the woman, slammed her into the wall and took the gun away. She was very upset that I pushed her.
Me: Have you ever shot a gun before?
Woman: “No I just bought this gun and figured I would learn how to shoot.”
Me: Ok. Have you had any training with a firearm?
Woman: “No, No training you know movies”
I couldn’t believe what this woman was saying. Watching a movie is not training. I truly believe that If I would have been talking to my student instead of looking over this woman's shoulder she would have killed herself.
Choosing to figure this out on your own is EXTREMELY dangerous. You may end up killing yourself, your children or your spouse and it can all be avoided if you take the time to train and develop these foundational skills.
